SYNOPSIS
JAMANDAS
Jamandas is a story of a typical luo who lives in the Kibera slums facing the challenges faced by a slum dweller. He has a wife who visits once a while, and goes back to upcountry due to the expensive nature of life. He sells mandazi nearby and that is his only source of income, when his wife is around she also engages in selling of small scale kerosene using bottles at the door. He suffers from male bettering from a much older wife married to him by force. though he commands finances and uses it as the only tool to put her down
Jamandas has got a visiting step brother who jumped into a funeral car to come visit his brother not knowing that he leaves in the ghetto
We see the intrigues of jamandas and his jobless brother who becomes a real bother to jamandas because he cannot fend for himself even 5/- to go to the pay toilet and become a real burden to JM even after sending his wife home because of budget.
One day jm while living with a brother wins a million in a radio lottery but chooses not to tell anyone for fear of rip off and that posse the question to the audience.Suppossedly one would win a million at any situation what would they do? Here we will try show what possibly could be done and what jamandas chooses to do. It depicts the different choices between social classes
Jamandas lives a lie, lives poor in kibera and rich outside kibera where no one knows him
The big question however is, How long is he going to live a lie?
He does this for some time keeping the one million in the house and taking it bit by bit and disappears to spend his fortune in things he had all admired.
Big hotels, women, expensive clothing ,among others
He stops his mandazi business much to confusion of neighbors and the step brother who despite JM fortune goes hungry yet sleeps next to the hidden cash
The intrigues of jm continues for sometime until one day he has a bad dream that thieves break in their makeshift and steals 500,000 all money he was still left with.
Jm wakes up only to realize it’s a dream yet he had sleep talked his secret and now his brother knows the story.
What will jm do now admit? Continue tricking the brother? -------but the dream opens his eyes and he realizes differently will he invest? What options does he HAVE??
